Why Celebrate Catholic?
Fowler Sample founded Celebrate Catholic as a ministry to uplift Catholics on their daily walk with notes on faith, food, lifestyle, and dating.
Blessed Fulton J. Sheen said:
“There are not one hundred people in the United States who hate the Catholic Church, but there are millions who hate what they wrongly perceive the Catholic Church to be.”
How true. The confusion and scandals of the day can make it a difficult time to be Catholic. So much energy can be consumed in discussing what is wrong, but why not take a step back and look up to what makes the Church holy?
"The Church is holy: the Most Holy God is her author; Christ, her bridegroom, gave himself up to make her holy; the Spirit of holiness gives her life. Since she still includes sinners, she is "the sinless one made up of sinners." Her holiness shines in the saints; in Mary she is already all-holy." (CCC 867)
This beautiful sentiment is the focus of Celebrate Catholic—to celebrate the true, good, and beautiful Catholic Church.
Celebrate Catholic specifically focuses on building a connection with God, Our Lady, and the saints, and also with one another.
The saints featured in this space are female; highlighting women who were luminaries in their time, be they empress, soldier, queen, slave, martyr, heiress, activist, media mogul, mystic, or mom. These women were movers and shakers on a global scale and not only molded the Catholic Church, but much of civilization. Fowler Sample believes their example of living in celebration of the Catholic faith cannot help but inspire the modern Catholic woman (or man!), and impress upon us all that the collective legacy they leave is unmatched by any other group of women in all of history.
It is the hope that Celebrate Catholic will not only offer encouragement to every visitor on an individual level, but that it will empower those to actively celebrate their faith within their circle of influence, whether that be family, friends, or fellow parishioners, and cultivate intentional environments to celebrate our Catholic faith.
